Protest Forms: Memory and Celebration 

Marinella Senatore’s work primarily consists of performance aimed at turning (mostly public) places into platforms where participants can get back to experiencing the energy of togetherness. According to the artist, working together can be a way of asserting the value of sharing. Her large use of music and dance reveals her confidence in the sense of emancipation inherent in such disciplines and in their capacity to combine individual and collective limelight.

Considering art as a form of resistance and social practice to build a sense of citizenship, Senatore’s work aims at opening up spaces for critical reflection. Besides performance, Senatore uses video, drawing and painting as well as installation, photography, sound and sculpture to produce content on the topics of rights and citizenship.
