Protest Forms: Memory and Celebration. Public opinion descends upon the demonstrators, Marinella Senatore’s performance on the occasion of MiArt
On 6th April 2019, concomitantly with Art Week 2019, nctm e l’arte presents a performance by Marinella Senatore entitled Protest Forms: Memory and Celebration. Public opinion descends upon the demonstrators.
This comprehensive performance, designed for our firm, will feature several dance scenes with choreography and music by Marinella Senatore
Senatore has for years been focusing, with strong commitment, on the themes of citizenship, individual and collective limelight and social liveability, in the belief that art may unleash a surge of consciousness in the dialectic between individual and society. Performances are central to her practice, often imbued with music, dance and other forms of physical expression capable of conveying a sense of vitality, sharing, inclusion and emancipation.
This time, the artist will involve specialists from various disciplines, though having in common a sense of protest, such as contemporary dance, whose dynamism will stand out against the extremely distinctive context of our firm, and Butoh, a contemporary avant-garde Japanese dance form that originated in Japan following the atomic bomb devastation. Marked by motionlessness, essentiality and tension, Butoh does not expand into sensations but expresses a strong and dramatic physical reaction: against annihilation of life, it points to the need to restart from the body, with a rigor that is criticism and resistance in itself.
Butoh dancer Paola Lattanzi, dancers Lorenzo Vanini, Martina Vanini and Gaia Arnese and composer Emiliano Branda will contribute to the performance. Maria Pala Zedda is to be thanked for her scientific contribution.
In conjunction with the event, a core set of Senatore’s works, namely, graphic works, collage and videos, will be exhibited in the spaces of Nctm Studio Legale.
